The Avid Ascend LX features Yokohama's L-2 all season compound with an optimized polymer blend that improves wear resistance. This compound forms into a symmetric tread pattern with an offset design and a five block pitch sequence that minimizes excess noise for excellent ride quality. This tire is equipped with a wider and flatter tread contour that promotes even pressure distribution in the footprint. This feature amplifies resistance to uneven wear as well as enhancing tire life. A group of wide circumferential and lateral grooves work together to encourage water evacuation away from the contact patch to combat hydroplaning. 3-D sipes furnish the tire's shoulders along with notches in the intermediate ribs to generate additional biting edges. These biting edges provide resilient winter grip on light snow covered roads and icy surfaces.
